Founder and CEO
Steve Bennett has over 35 years of experience in the IT industry. Steve held engineering and management positions with CSTI, EDS, and Northrop before starting his first business, Imaginet Inc., an IT security and training company in 1995. In 2003 Steve joined G2 as a partner, serving as Chief Operating Officer and helped build G2 into a leading Federal cybersecurity services contractor. In 2015 Steve acquired the assets of Logical Security and founded Human Element LLC.
Steve has served as an information security consultant to numerous Fortune 500 companies, as well as Federal and local government agencies and has consulted for organizations in nearly every major business sector (financial, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, entertainment, transportation and utility). At Human Element Steve leads all aspects of business operations and is directly involved in the development of services and training products. Steve is a graduate of the Control Data Institute and received the GSEC information security certification from the SANS Institute.
Director of Technology
Michael has over 20 years of experience in information security. He holds a Master’s Degree in Information Systems Security from Boston University (a National Security Agency [NSA] “Center of Excellence”) as well as over 20 industry certifications including CISSP, CISA, CCE, Security+, MCSE:Security, CCSE+, and ITIL.
Mike was the chief instructor for Shon Harris’s Logical Security LLC where he taught and developed courses on CISSP, hacking/pen-testing, digital forensics/eDiscovery, CISA, and others. As the Director of Technology for Human Element, he continues to author technical content for many of the classroom and web-based training courses. Additionally, he provides overall engineering leadership for the organization. Mike’s has written courseware and lectured on Microsoft security, penetration testing, Linux/UNIX security, and infrastructure security. Microsoft employed Mike as a Subject Matter Expert to create and edit the exams for the Windows Server 2008 (Longhorn) Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certifications. In his consulting work he has worked for organizations including Bridgestone/Firestone, Warner Bros., Department of Defense, Northrop Grumman, Novo Nordisk, and the U.S. House of Representatives. For these clients he has stood up entire security programs, regulatory compliance programs (OCC, SOX, HIPAA, GLBA), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) compliance programs, and performed similar audits. He has performed vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, and is sought after for his document writing work (policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines). He also has experience implementing the ITIL, CoBIT, and ISO 17799 frameworks.
Director of Training
Jordan Genung served as the Director of Program Management and Project Manager at Shon Harris' Logical Security. In these roles he was responsible for the execution of security training and consulting initiatives and managed the development of security training products. He continues this leadership role at Human Element as the Director of Training where he manages the quality and development of Human Element's training products. Jordan’s professional experience includes security consulting, project management, and IT operations. His diverse background enables him to effectively bridge the gap between business, IT, and security. His work has included security consulting, code review, auditing, security product evaluations, and curriculum development.
Jordan is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and an honors graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, an NSA and DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cyber Defense. He holds a degree in Computer Science and Information Security. While in attendance, he was part of an exclusive research program at the Institute for Cyber Security. Jordan is also a graduate of Hack Reactor, an elite Computer Software Engineering immersive.
